Custom Commissions

Step 1

Inquire

If you are interested in commissioning a custom order please reach out via DM, email or fill out the Custom Commission Initial Inquiry form to describe the dream garment you are envisioning.

Please also attach to the email any inspiration images you may have.

All custom commissions are designed, sourced, patterned, and constructed in our small atelier by a duo of hardworking artisans. Full Custom Commissions start at $1000 and go up from there based on complexity, number of components, and chosen materials.

We give discounted rates for performers in exchange for use of content of our work.

Step 2

Sketching Process

After we discuss exactly what you are looking for, please pay the sketch fee below and Monique we begin work on a preliminary sketch.

Monique will then send the preliminary sketch along with an initial quote for the completed garment (prices may change with added details or changes to the initial sketch).

Prices for custom commissions can vary based on the complexity of the garment.

Monique will then discuss any changes or tweaks you would like to make to the final design before completing a final sketch and quote.

Step 3

First Installment and Sourcing

Once we receive your first payment Monique will begin the sourcing process where she will order all materials and notions needed to complete your commission.

Step 4

Measurements

Next, we will ask for some base measurements so we can get started on your custom patterns for the fit sample.

Please take a look at our measurement guide to help guide you to take the most accurate measurements.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We can schedule a virtual measurement fitting if you need more assistance in capturing your most accurate measurements.

Keep in mind that the more accurate your measurements are the better the first fit samples will fit and make the entire custom commission process smoother.

Step 5

Pattern Development and Fit Samples

Annabelle, our production manager, will then work on your custom patterns and first fit samples.

She will engineer the pieces we will cut to make your final garment. The first fit samples, although not as gorgeous as your final pieces will be, serve as a 3D sketch we can try on via a virtual video fitting to test your patterns before cutting the final fabric. This way we can make any changes or tweaks necessary to make your final garment fit perfectly.

At this point if you are paying with installments, the second installment is due.

Step 6

Virtual Fitting

After your fit samples arrive to you we will schedule a virtual fitting via zoom at your convenience to access how everything fits and what changes we need make to the patterns before cutting into final fabric.

This step requires a bit of imagination to visualize the fit samples in your final fabric and fully finished with lining and details. We make samples in muslin fabric or a similar less expensive fabric to your final fabric. Although this makes the samples not as beautiful it is easier to see the changes we need to make to the patterns.

If necessary we will provide you a FedEx label to ship the fit samples back to us, but usually the notes and screenshots we take during the fitting are sufficient. Occasionally we will also conduct a secondary fitting if necessary.

This is the absolute last chance to make any changes to the design or patterns. Please speak up and voice your opinions, this will ensure the final product is exactly how you imagine.

Step 7

Pattern Adjustments, Cut and Construct Final Commission

Production then spends endless hours editing your patterns, cutting, constructing and finishing the work to complete your final garment.

Most production is done by, our master seamstress, Annabelle. She enjoys the challenge of engineering Monique’s designs to be exactly like the sketch and truly excels in making designs come to life.

If you are paying by installments, now is the time to pay the third installment.

Step 8

Photos, Pack, and Shipment

Congratulations! We have reached the end of the custom commission process together. We love collaborating with clients who understand the love and work we put into every garment we make.

Once the construction is complete we will take quick photos to send to you prior to packing everything up for shipment. Keep in mind the garment is custom made to you and your measurements so she won’t look nearly as beautiful on a dress form or mannequin like she will on you.

When we have received the remaining balance +shipping for your order, we will send you your garment via Fedex! Click the link below to pay your final installment!
